Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 22/10/2025

This accessibility statement applies to the GoVo digital volunteering platform, developed and maintained by Royal Voluntary Service.

Using the GoVo Platform

GoVo is designed to be inclusive, intuitive, and welcoming to all. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this platform. For example, you should be able to:

  • Use Recite Me to access screen reading, translation, and display customisation tools.
  • Navigate the platform using assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
  • Adjust volunteer profiles to communicate access needs to charities.
  • Track accessibility progress through our regular updates to this statement

We've made the website text as simple as possible to understand and actively engage individuals with lived experience of disability and exclusion in our design and testing processes.

Compliance Status

This platform is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below. We are actively working to address these issues and aim to achieve full AA compliance.

Non-accessible Content

Some areas of the platform do not yet meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards. These include:

  • Inconsistent screen reader navigation in certain form fields.
  • Missing or unclear labels on some interactive elements.
  • Content structure issues affecting readability and flow.

We are prioritising fixes that will have the greatest impact for users with access needs and are working with RNIB and other accessibility experts to validate changes.

Exemptions

No content is currently exempt from the accessibility regulations.

What We're Doing to Improve Accessibility

Following a formal external audit by RNIB, we have developed a detailed internal action plan. Improvements underway include:

  • Enhanced form labelling and clearer ID verification messaging.
  • Streamlined onboarding pathways.
  • Continued testing and validation with users and experts.

Accessibility is not a checkbox it's an ongoing process. We remain committed to transparency and continuous improvement.

Third party functionality and services

In some places on our website, we depend on third parties to deliver functionality and services that we cannot perform ourselves. Wherever possible we work with third parties to ensure that the service they provide achieves conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

We cannot guarantee that all our third-party applications and services will always remain accessible and usable due to various updates made by third party suppliers.

If you discover any of our third-party services are not usable, please email help@govo.org
